Chimera is a skilled and vibrant flute, oboe and piano trio made up of graduates from Birmingham Conservatoire. Together, Liz, Lesley and Sara enjoy exploring and sharing with audiences the more challenging works in the chamber repertoire, as well as performing well known classical and popular favourites. All established musicians in their own right, as a trio, Liz, Lesley and Sara have recently given performances as part of the Carrs Lane Recital Series and for the National Trust. Biographies
Lesley Morson - Oboe
Lesley completed her undergraduate and postgraduate study at the Birmingham Conservatoire where she finished with distinction. She was a finalist in the Conservatoire prize for woodwind and has appeared as a soloist with the Sinfonia of Birmingham, The Central England Ensemble and Queens Park Sinfonia. She has studied with George Caird, Jenni Philips, Edwin Roxburgh and John Anderson. Lesley has performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and currently works as a freelance musician and teacher across the West Midlands. She is also a founding member of ‘No Strings Attached’ Wind Quintet as well as a professional reed maker.
Sara Wilander - Piano
Sara was born in Sweden and started playing the piano at the age of 8. At the age of 15, she made her debut as a soloist with the Sinfonia Classica of Brussels, Belgium. Whilst still at secondary school, Sara studied with Professor Rolf Lindblom of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. After preparatory studies at the Conservatoire National de Région of Chalon sur Saone, France, she continued at Birmingham Conservatoire under Simon Nicholls and Malcolm Wilson, where she completed her BMus(Hons), PgCert, PgDip and MMus. She has an international background and has participated successfully in Swedish, German, English and French competitions, as a soloist as well as an accompanist. She is an experienced performer and has appeared in both solo and chamber settings throughout Europe. She is in demand as a soloist, chamber musician as well as an accompanist. Sara is also a harpsichordist and performs regularly with various ensembles and orchestras.
